Privacy policy
Hersh Service Co uses this app to answer questions, set up visits, do the work and keep track of customers. Chaos to Clarity Digital Consulting LLC (Chaos to Clarity) runs the app for the shop. This page explains what information is collected, what it's used for and who else handles it.
What we collect
- What you tell us: your name, phone, email, address or town, and what's going on, through the website chat, the contact form, Facebook or Instagram messages, a booking link, or a call.
- Photos, videos and files you send in the chat.
- Records of the work: visits and jobs, notes, equipment at your place, and amounts.
- A little technical info: the page you started a chat on, and a chat ID saved in your browser so a refresh doesn't lose your conversation. Your internet (IP) address is used briefly to block spam and isn't saved. This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How it's used
- To answer you, schedule visits, do the work and follow up
- To send visit confirmations, reminders and replies by text, email or message
- To keep records of past work and equipment so the shop can help you next time
- To keep out spam and keep the app secure
Your information is never sold or rented, and it isn't used for advertising.
The chat assistant uses AI
When Hersh Service Co has it turned on, the website chat is answered by an AI assistant, and a real person at Hersh Service Co reads the chats and follows up. To write replies, your messages (and any photos you send in the chat) go to Anthropic, the company that makes the AI. Please don't share things like card numbers or passwords in the chat. The assistant can make mistakes, so for an emergency, call the shop or 911.
Who else handles it
Only companies that help run the app, and only for that:
- Railway, which hosts the app and its database
- Anthropic, for the chat assistant
- Google, if the shop uses Google Drive for photos, files and backups, or the spam check on the contact form
- Meta, if you message the shop on Facebook or Instagram
- An email service, to send emails
- Phone alert services (Apple, Google), which deliver alerts to the shop's phones
Information may also be shared if the law requires it.
How long it's kept
As long as Hersh Service Co needs it to serve you and keep business records, or until you ask for it to be deleted. Backup copies roll off after about 90 days.
Your choices
You can ask Hersh Service Co to show you, correct or delete your information. Contact the shop. Chaos to Clarity will help the shop with your request.
If you work at the shop
The app also keeps your login (your password is stored scrambled), your app settings, and a log of who did what (with a basic device type like "iPhone") for up to 180 days. Signing in keeps you signed in on that phone for up to 30 days.
Security
The app uses secure (HTTPS) connections, and each shop has its own separate database, hosted in the United States. Access is limited to the shop and the people who run the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Kids
This app isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
